Biography:

Dr. Ban Hock Tan obtained his MRCP in 1994 and then started training in Infectious Diseases, completing his training in Boston. His main interest is the immunocompromised patient, in particular, the transplant recipient. He has been head of two different departments – Internal Medicine (IM) and Infectious Diseases (ID). In fact, he built the Department of ID in his hospital from scratch. He went on to develop Transplant ID in the hospital. He has been Chief Examiner at the specialist certification examinations in both IM and ID.

He is also active on the academic scene internationally. He is Co-Chair of the Asia Fungal Working Group (AFWG), a working group of the International Society of Human and Animal Mycology. The AFWG has been conducting annual training courses on medical mycology for the region. He sits on the editorial board of the journal Transplant Infectious Disease, and has been on the Council of the Transplant Infectious Diseases Section of The Transplantation Society for several years.

Overview:

Multi-drug resistant organisms are a rising scourge all over the world. They are a threat to the success of transplantation. This webinar will review the problem of MDR-organisms in the field of organ transplantation.
