Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Scientific Session during the General Assembly, Cordoba 2020 (online) was postponed. The WMA Secretariat and the Spanish Medical Association (Consejo General de Colegios Oficiales de Médicos; CGCOM) have decided to hold this event virtually due to the ongoing pandemic situation.

This Scientific Session is co-hosted by the CGCOM together with the National Transplantation Organisation (Organización Nacional de Trasplantes; ONT) and the theme of this event is "Physicians in the Organ Donation and Transplantation Process: Ethical Challenges".

This event is open to all constituent members of the World Medical Association, to associate members, to observers and to other individuals by special invitation.

The registration fee is waived for all participants.

Aug. 27 - Oliver Ullrich, professor of anatomy at University of Zurich, biologist Cora Thiel and Airbus are using microgravity in space to grow three-dimensional organ-like tissues - called organoids - from adult human stem cells.

Mini Brains Grown From Stem Cells Developed Light-Sensitive, Eye-Like Features

Aug. 19 - In a new study, researchers remarkably grew miniature brains with a set of eye-like formations called optic cups. The optic cups are precursors to the retina, and its development within the mini organoids resembled the emergence of eye structures in human embryos.
