WIT Awards
The Women in Transplantation Steering Committee have created the Woman Leader in Transplantation Award to recognize a woman who has helped further the field of transplantation through research, policies, leadership, initiatives or other regarded contributions. The Unsung Hero Award will be presented to one woman who has had an extraordinary impact in transplantation through community service, volunteering, mentorship or other community based activity. Both Awards are presented during the presidential address at the TTS International Congress.

NEW! TTS Research Grants Program
- The three seeding grants, at $25,000 each, will provide support to clinical, basic and translational scientists working within the field of transplantation. Research must commence on September 1st 2022 and conclude on 31st October, 20, 2024.
- Up to $25k per year for up to 2 years with requirement for annual reporting. The extra 2 months is intended to provide buffer for start-up, i.e. 14 months first period and 12 months second period
- The research start date cannot be deferred for any reason.
- Applications must be submitted in full by June 1st 2022 in order to be reviewed.
- The recipient will sign a letter of agreement with TTS. Payments will be issued to the recipient’s institution by TTS, and the recipient will report to the TTS Research Grant Committee.

As the global leader in transplantation, committed to health and life for all, The Transplantation Society expresses grave concern over the escalating violence and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.
The protection of civilians and preservation of healthcare is imperative. TTS stands ready to support our colleagues, friends, families and patients impacted by this tragedy. As a non-State actor in official relations with the World Health Organization, we will seek collaborate with the WHO to provide our expert assistance on the Ukraine emergency
We are monitoring the situation and have setup a donation page (https://ukraine.tts.org) to collect funds to be distributed to support the maintenance of healthcare in the Ukraine and assist transplant patients as may be possible. We will also reach out to contacts to assess how we can assist to re-establish transplantation activities once the crisis has ended. TTS will match each contribution, dollar for dollar, up to $50,000 USD in total.

Dr. Hannah Valantine is Professor of Medicine at Stanford. She was formerly the inaugural Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity at the United States National Institutes of Health (NiH), and a Senior Investigator in the Intramural Research Program at the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. (NHLBI). Prior to starting this position, Dr Valantine was professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Senior Associate Dean for Diversity and Leadership at Stanford.
At NIH Dr. Valantine established a highly productive research program within the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI). She created the Genomic Research Alliance for Transplantation (GRAfT), a consortium of five heart and lung transplant programs in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, which has enrolled and is actively following more than 500 patients, 40% of whom are African American/Black.

This discussion will be chaired by Dr. Lori West, Professor of Pediatrics, Surgery, Immunology and Pathology/Lab Medicine at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) in Cardiac Transplantation, and Director of the Alberta Transplant Institute. Dr. Lori West is also the Past Chair of Women in Transplantation.

This event will take place on Tuesday 26th April at 5.30pm EDT at the 42nd Annual Meeting of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT) as a pre-Congress Networking event.
ISHLT’s meeting will be held at the John B. Hynes Memorial Convention Center in Boston, USA from Wednesday 27 April to Saturday 30 April 2022.
